Hey,
sports fans! March Madness is here, and it is time for you to talk some trash
and pick which book is going to come out on top. Come by to the library and take a look at
our DHS Library March Tournament bracket chart and check out a book (or, hey, grab all of the books)
on the display. Vote on the books you
think will win in each bracket. We
start off with a "Sweet Sixteen" set of titles. At the end of the first week, the winners are revealed, and the books
move on (with a bracket of the "Elite Eight"). You
get the idea. When we are down to the
last two, vote for your favorite. During week one, make your prediction for the Champion Library book. If you guess right, you may win a prize (as yet to be determined!) Weekly drawings for DHS Cafe Coupons or Cavalatte Coupons are planned throughout the tourney!
Here are the titles up for Best Book at Dorman's Library:
Want to know the "seed" of each title? No problem, here is the list in rank order from #1 to #16. These books were selected based on their circulations from February 2012 through February 2013.
- Catching Fire
- Legend
- Blue plate special
- Mockingjay
- Wake
- The Hunger Games
- Firestorm
- Something Like Hope
- Fade
- The First Part Last
- So, So Hood
- This World We Live In
- Gone
- The Son of Neptune
- Thirteen Reasons Why
- The Throne of Fire
So come by the library each week to vote on a title in a bracket. During the first week, enter our contest to predict the winner. There will be weekly prizes (in the form of a Cavalatte or Cafe Coupon) so enter each opportunity offered! When we are down to a single winner, all who guessed correctly go into the grand prize drawing for the gift certificate. Sorry teachers, this one is only open to students!!
P.S. Special thanks to my friend and teacher librarian Susan Meyers over at Spartanburg High School for the inspiration to do this.
