We're on fire with recycled books!!

This is copied from Dorman's Facebook page since the book sculpture was a collaborative art project with the library!!

Congratulations to Jonathan Xiong and Katie Smith whose sculpture work was accepted into the 2013 South Carolina Scholastic Art Show to be held in January at Lander University! Katie received an Honorable Mention for her untitled ceramic piece. Jonathan’s recycled book sculpture entitled “Passage” received a Gold Key award and will move on to National competition after this regional show!

 Here's a picture of Jonathan's work:

We had another sculpture make it's way down to the library this week.  And here is the latest contribution, which is an interpretation of Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451.

DHS Celebrates National Hot Cocoa Day

Today our Dorman Library celebrated National Hot Cocoa Day. All day long we have served faculty & staff. We invited roughly 80 students to enjoy as well.  Students received an invitation IF they had a good record of circulating school library books, had no overdues, or participated in library book clubs, contests, surveys, and other activities!  We've had a blast all day today.  Here are a few pictures from today. We should all thank Dorman High School Librarian Melanie Dillard for the brainstorm of an idea!! Both Librarians Melanie Dillard and Cathy Nelson worked hard to pull this activity together and make it a success.
